Marievale Bird Sanctuary provides a beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle of city living, lying on a large wetland approximately 10 km outside of town. Also, visit the Diepkloof Farm Museum on the Nigel road towards Suikerbosrand, this is a restored farm house from 1850. While in the area, take a trip to the Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve which has some wonderful hiking trails.
